Pygmy Mouse Lemur
Microcebus myoxinus

#M114-09

Photographed in Western Dry Forest
Toliara Province, Madagascar
©  Karl Lehmann

The worlds smallest primate, this tiny nocturnal creature weighs only about 30 grams (one ounce) when fully grown. It was recently re-discovered in the western dry forest of Madagascar after "disappearing" for over a century. It is the smallest of seven known species of mouse lemur, the majority of them recently described. Only three of them were known to science prior to 1998. The pygmy mouse lemur is known from only one location, the Kirindy Forest north of Morondava. It may also inhabit other remnants of the western dry forest but this has yet to be confirmed.

This photograph is available as an 11x16" signed print, archivally mounted and matted or archivally framed in black metal.

Mounted size is 17"x22" (43x56 cm).
