Andrew and guides on a buying trip to Maramba Village, Papua New Guinea |
#J47-28 | ||||||
Our carvings are carried to the Sepik River in small dugout canoes or by porters. Once on the main river, the artifacts are crated for protection then transported downstream on a larger, double-hulled canoe. This photograph was taken while returning from a relatively unsuccessful trip to Maramba village; we were able to acquire only eight small carvings. The woman in the canoe passing to the left is transporting fish traps. |
